{"id":4170,"date":"2026-07-29T13:34:57","date_gmt":"2026-07-29T10:34:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iuliavs.ro\/?p=4170"},"modified":"2026-09-11T13:39:18","modified_gmt":"2026-09-11T10:39:18","slug":"aprinderea-unei-lumanari-gest-simplu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iuliavs.ro\/en\/aprinderea-unei-lumanari-gest-simplu\/","title":{"rendered":"Lighting a candle \u2013 the simple gesture that carries thousands of years of history"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lighting a candle is one of humanity\u2019s oldest ritual gestures.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the temples of Ancient Egypt and the ceremonies of Greece and Rome to churches, synagogues, and temples around the world, lighting a candle remains one of the most widespread rituals on Earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Long before electricity, the light of fire had not only a practical role, but also a symbolic one.<br>Archaeologists have found traces of ritual lamps and oil lights in Egyptian, Greek, and Roman temples, as well as in many sacred spaces thousands of years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Christianity, the candle became a symbol of prayer and divine presence.<br>In Judaism, there are the Shabbat candles and the menorah.<br>In Buddhism and Hinduism, light appears frequently in rituals as a symbol of consciousness and inner awakening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Different cultures. Different eras.\nAnd yet the same simple gesture: a human being lights a flame at an important moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anthropologists say that fire and light have always marked a passage:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>from chaos to order,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>from darkness to clarity,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>from the outer world to the inner one.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mircea Eliade noted that fire appears in many traditions as a symbol of transformation and of the link between the visible and the invisible world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In The Golden Bough, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/James-George-Frazer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">James George Frazer<\/a> observed that fire holds a central place in numerous ritual traditions.\nLight was not seen merely as warmth or illumination, but as a symbol of life, purification, and the renewal of the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Greek historian and philosopher Plutarch wrote about sacred fire and the role of light in the religious life of the ancient world.\nIn his accounts of temples and rituals, light often appears as a symbol of divine presence, order, and the continuity between the world of humans and the world of the gods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps that is why the act of <a href=\"https:\/\/iuliavs.ro\/en\/ritualurile-si-stiinta-vindecarii\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"2871\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-woostify-primary-color\">lighting a candle<\/mark><\/a> still calms us so deeply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a few moments,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the rhythm slows,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>attention gathers,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and the human being seems to remember how to be present.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udc49 Is there a moment when you light a candle and feel time slowing down for a few seconds?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udc49 For you, is a candle more a symbol of prayer, remembrance, hope, or inner quiet?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udc49 Ai un ritual simplu care te ajut\u0103 s\u0103 treci de la agita\u021bia zilei la un moment de prezen\u021b\u0103 \u0219i reflec\u021bie?<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Aprinderea unei lum\u00e2n\u0103ri este unul dintre cele mai vechi gesturi ritualice ale omenirii.
